Dr. David J. Neese grew up in New Lenox, Illinois. A small town south of Chicago, he was close enough to experience what the big city was like, but far enough away know the small town values he appreciates. He was the first in his family to go to college, let alone a podiatric medical school. He graduated from Purdue University in 1982, with the intent of gaining a PhD in Biochemistry. But as he was starting the program, he became more interested in clinical applications than the pure science of that field. He chose podiatric medicine as a career since it was a small specialty, and in great demand of practitioners. He graduated from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine (now a medical college at Rosalind Franklin University) in 1987 cum laude, earning Doctor of Podiatric Medicine-DPM. Dr. Neese then entered his three year surgical residency at Atlanta Hospital and Medical Center. While there he also participated in a trauma fellowship in Kuopio, Finland at the University. He also participated in a fellowship at Bad Schwartau, Germany in rheumatology, vascular medicine and foot/ankle surgery as it pertained to those specialties. He later returned to Germany to teach foot and ankle surgery in 1990. Upon completion, he started practice in Chicago for two years, but had an opportunity to come to Minnesota. He has never looked back. He became a Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in Foot Surgery, as well as Reconstructive Rear foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and American College of Wound Care Professionals. Dr. Neese is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Minnesota Podiatric Medical Association.
Dr. David Neese has always had an interest in teaching. He has lectured in Europe, as well as at many state and national conferences. He has published articles in Podiatric, Orthopedic and Wound Journals, and has contributed chapters to three textbooks in podiatric surgery and medicine. Currently he is the Director of Podiatric Surgery Mercy hospital residency, in Coon Rapids Minnesota. This is a three year residency in foot and ankle surgery, with a residency based wound clinic. He also has an appointment as an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Ohio Podiatric Medical school. His surgical specialties of the foot and ankle include forefoot and rear foot reconstruction, for both the adult and pediatric patient, as well as diabetic foot deformity.
Dr. David Neese is married and has raised two wonderful young men, of whom he is extremely proud and grateful for, but gives most credit to his beautiful wife. He has outside interests in fly fishing for any fish willing to be caught, camping, guitar, and travel.
